Approval must be meaningful
A human checkpoint adds little value if the reviewer cannot see sources, policy, confidence, alternatives or consequences. The workflow must prepare a decision, not merely request a click.
Design the operating model
- Name the accountable decision owner.
- Define what can be recommended and what can be executed.
- Show the evidence and exceptions required for review.
- Record approval, modification, rejection and escalation.
- Measure outcomes and recurring failure patterns.
Match control to risk
Low-risk deterministic actions may be approved for automation. Higher-impact decisions should preserve explicit human authority. The boundary belongs in policy and implementation design.
